What are the gains with your R53 MINI Intake Manifold?
Below you can find few examples from our own and customer cars testing.
R53 non-ported original manifold vs TPE Precision non-ported intake manifold:
Huge gains from the 2500 to 5000 rpm with +40Nm and 15Whp at 3000 RPM and +10Nm and 12 Whp at the redline.
R53 ported intake manifold vs TPE Precision R53 ported Intake manifold:
+15whp from 5500 to 7500 rpm.
R50 NA ported intake manifold vs R50 NA TPE Precision Intake Manifold:
+12whp from 2000 to 4500 rpm and +10whp from 5500 to 7500rpm.
*Please keep in mind that every car will react a bit different to this upgrade.
Will I need a re-tune?
YES! You must re-tune your car after fitting the TPE Precision R53 MINI intake manifold.
I have an R50 MINI. Can I use your intake manifold?

Why your R53 MINI intake manifold is so expensive?
The TPE Precision R53 MINI intake manifold is produced with one of the most high-tech production methods currently available. The reason we choose this manufacturing method is the design freedom it give us and as a result our intake manifold produce huge performance gains.
Additionally, the TPE Precision intake manifold is 2 kilos lighter compare to the original unit.
The lower specific heat capacity of Nylon 12 compare to aluminum will also drastically reduce IATS. We have seen up to 30C reduction under race conditions.
I can do it cheaper. I will use a Dremel and port my original intake manifold myself, so why the premium?
You will not see the same gains! Our manifold is completely redesigned not just ported! Runners not only are enlarged but we also changed their length, shape and angle. Similarly the plenum is bigger with altered inner geometries.
The manifold is also CFD optimized to equalize pressure in all 4 runners while maintaining the same outer dimensions as the original unit! Also the declared gains are with a non-ported manifold!
Ported ? Non-ported ? What are these? I am confused.
Ported version is the intake manifold that the cylinder head outline match the original metal gasket.
Non-ported version has the exact same cylinder head outline as the original Cooper S intake manifold.
Will your manifold work on a turbo setup? And how much boost can it take?
Our R50 intake manifold will be able to fit in an turbo car. With the production method we use the intake manifold is rated to 5 bar of boost pressure. With that said please keep in mind that at the moment we have not done any test to a turbo car. If you have more questions about a turbo intake manifold, please send us an email at info@tpeprecision.com
What do I need to change on my car in order to be able to fit the TPE Precision R53 intake manifold ?
Nothing at all! Our intake manifold is a plug and play unit. The kit comes with all the necessary hardware and a manual to complete the installation.
I see that you use different seals. Can I use the original metal seal?
Metal seals will not work on plastic intake manifolds, that’s why we developed our own Viton seals that comes with every intake manifold.
Are these seals one time use items?
No. But it is advised to check the seals every 20,000 km or 2 years. You will have to change the seals, if you install - uninstall the manifold more than 3 times.
For race cars check the seals every 5000 km or 1 year, whichever comes first.
To avoid damaging the seals, please apply the provided high temp grease.
I want a TPE Precision Intake manifold as fast as possible. What’s the lead time?
Due to the complication and the size of our intake manifold in accordance to the high demand lead time varies from 1 month to 1,5 months prior shipping.
